Former President Donald Trump vows to stop China from buying U.S. land if re-elected in the upcoming presidential election. In an exclusive interview with Breitbart News, Trump highlighted the need to “have control of our land” and warned of the risks posed by foreign ownership of American resources.
“We have to have control of our land. We have to have control of our economy. We have to have control of our borders,” Trump told Breitbart in a phone interview. He expressed deep concern over what he described as “unbelievable so-called leaders” allowing the United States to be “sold out from under us.”
The issue of China buying U.S. farmland has been a growing concern for several years. Especially as CCP-affiliated entities have purchased land across the country, including properties near military bases.
This worry reached new heights earlier this year with the appearance of a Chinese surveillance balloon, which was first spotted over Montana and subsequently traveled across the country before being shot down over South Carolina.
Trump’s commitment to stop China from acquiring U.S. land aligns with warnings from Republican leaders such as Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) and Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR), who have voiced concerns over the threat Chinese land ownership poses to national security and the American food supply.
Today, Trump will be speaking at an event in Western Pennsylvania, organized by the Protecting America Initiative, alongside former Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY) and former acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell.
The event will highlight what Grenell referred to as the “growing strategy” of Chinese influence within America, focusing on preventing the CCP from purchasing American farmland.
Zeldin, according to reports, has cautioned that China’s increasing control of U.S. agricultural resources is a direct threat to the nation’s food security.
Trump echoed these sentiments, adding that his administration would impose “very strict guidelines” to block China from acquiring key American industries, including the telecommunications sector.
Trump contrasted his leadership on this issue with that of his opponent, Kamala Harris, expressing doubt over her ability to handle international affairs, particularly dealings with Chinese President Xi Jinping. He quipped, “She can’t answer a question from Oprah Winfrey,” indicating his belief that Harris is ill-prepared to confront global adversaries.
The former president appears poised to make the prevention of Chinese influence in the U.S. a central theme of his 2024 run.
Further details on Trump’s plans are expected to be released soon.
