Musk Donates $10 Million to Kentucky Senate Candidate Nate Morris

by Richard A Reagan

Elon Musk has donated $10 million to a super PAC backing Kentucky Republican Senate candidate Nate Morris. Morris is a pro-Trump businessman running to replace retiring Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) in 2026.

The donation went to the Fight for Kentucky super PAC last week. It is the largest contribution Musk has ever made to a Senate campaign, according to reporting from Axios.

The move signals that the billionaire is preparing to spend heavily in the 2026 midterm elections. This follows months of uncertainty after his public fallout with President Donald Trump last summer.

Axios reported that the donation followed a conversation between Musk and Morris. During that exchange, Musk was reportedly impressed by Morris’s pro-business and anti-establishment message.

Musk has privately told allies that he wants to play a major role in backing Republicans in 2026. The Morris contribution marks a significant step in that direction.

Morris appeared to confirm the news shortly after it became public. He reposted supportive messages on X from several prominent conservatives.

Among them were Sen. Jim Banks (R-IN) and Turning Point USA spokesman Andrew Kolvet. Kolvet noted that Morris was one of conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s final endorsements.

“He was one of Charlie’s last endorsements,” Kolvet wrote. “He’s fighting the McConnell Machine, and he needs our help to defeat it. If we want the Senate to change, we need better senators. Ground Zero is Kentucky.”

President Trump has not yet formally endorsed a candidate in the race. However, Musk’s backing and Morris’s rising national profile have fueled speculation that Morris could secure Trump’s support.

Morris launched his campaign on Donald Trump Jr.’s podcast. He has also described Vice President JD Vance as a personal friend.

Morris’s campaign has positioned him as a direct challenge to McConnell’s legacy. His website portrays him as an outsider determined to break with the status quo.

“Nate Morris is a pro-Trump businessman and conservative outsider who is sick and tired of the failed career politicians in both parties that have sold out American workers and families,” the site states. It adds that he is running to make sure Kentucky does not get “another Mitch McConnell puppet sabotaging the Trump agenda.”

Morris is 45 years old and founded waste management company Rubicon Technologies. He currently serves as the CEO of Morris Industries.

He has framed the race as a referendum on McConnell’s tenure. He has also criticized fellow Republican contenders, including Rep. Andy Barr (R-KY) and Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron, calling them “McConnell-ites.”

Musk previously donated at least $250 million to support Trump’s 2024 campaign. He has also signaled plans to open his checkbook for Republican House and Senate races.

Federal Election Commission filings show that Morris has already loaned more than $3 million to his campaign. He has raised over $1 million from donors, with Musk’s contribution now giving his Senate bid a major financial boost.
