While President Trump may not have been able to clean up the Swamp, he left behind a present in the form of Special Counsel John Durham. Durham’s deep dive into the investigation of supposed Russian collusion during President Trump’s campaign has led to some bombshells. And with numerous indictments having already been made, many in the Democratic establishment are getting nervous.
One of Durham’s latest indictments was Igor Danchenko, a scholar at Brookings who was widely believed to be one of the sources of information that made its way into the infamous Steele dossier. The more Durham digs, the more those involved with the dossier finally speak the truth: the dossier was based on rumors and hearsay that couldn’t be substantiated.
That won’t keep the mainstream media from trying to cover, however, as they have to try to pretend that they didn’t fall for the dossier hook, line, and sinker. Some of the strongest proponents of the dossier are now trying to downplay its significance, or cover up their support for it. And they’re getting people like disgraced former FBI agent Peter Strzok to help them make their case.
The really scary thing to the Democrats is that Durham isn’t done yet. He’s only made a handful of indictments, including Danchenko and a former counsel for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign. Many of the big names who helped push the Russian collusion narrative remain at large, and it’s highly likely that Durham is poring over their activities with a fine-toothed comb.
The fact that charges are being brought by career Department of Justice prosecutors also means that this isn’t a political witch hunt, unlike the government’s treatment of Trump and his former staffers, such as Gen. Flynn. We may yet see even more big names get caught up in Durham’s dragnet and finally face the punishment they truly deserve for trying to cook up a crazy scheme to discredit Trump and win the election.
